LTPH
(Learn to Play Hockey) Program

Your child's introduction to hockey!  Skaters must be 4 years old or older by December 31st, 2024 (birth year: 2020 and older).

Each session includes one on-ice practice/games per week (45-60 minutes on average).  Practices will be held on weekends at Watson Arena at Bowdoin College.

Each session will run for 8 weeks beginning in early October.  We intend to offer 3 sessions this season.

Full protective hockey equipment is required as sticks and pucks will be introduced towards the middle of the session.  Jerseys issued to players will need to be returned to the club at the conclusion of the season.

2024-2025 LTPH Fees will be $80.00 per 8-week session. Families may sign up for each session at a time or choose to sign up for all three sessions in advance at a discounted rate of $225.

6U

Our 6U program is for players ages 5 & 6 (birth years: 2018 & 2019) who have completed at least half a season of the LTPH program.

Practices consist of fun, skills-oriented drills based on USA Hockey’s American Development Model and will be held at various local rinks in the area, including Watson Arena (Brunswick), Troubh Arena (Portland), Bates College, and more.

6U will play half-ice games and will be assigned to permanent mixed ability teams for the season.  Many practices will be on shared ice with another group. Jerseys issued to players will be personalized to them and are theirs to keep as a commemorative keepsake.

2024-2025 6U Fees will be $350.00

8U

Our 8U program is for players ages 6, 7 and 8 (birth years: 2016, 2017 & 2018) who have completed at least a year of the LTPH or 6U program.

It is recommended that if your skater was a 6U last season and meets the age requirement that they should be registered as an 8U this season.

For questions, contact the Director of Developmental Programs.  Practices consist of fun, skills-oriented drills based on USA Hockey’s American Development Model and will be held at various local rinks in the area, including Watson Arena (Brunswick), Troubh Arena (Portland), Bates College, and more.

After initial practices, 8Us will have a scheduled game most weeks.  These will include in house games, against other Midcoast 8U teams, as well as the opportunity to compete against similar teams from nearby hockey organizations when scheduling allows.

8U will play half-ice games and they will be assigned to permanent mixed ability teams for the season.  Participation in 8U includes participation in at least one local tournament.  Jerseys issued to players will be personalized to them and are theirs to keep as a commemorative keepsake.

2024-2025 8U Fees will be $550.00

8U Tourney Team

Optional, but highly recommended for those born in 2016 and moving up to the 10U level next season, the Tourney Team is an opportunity for additional ice time beyond the traditional 8U program.

Players with a 2016 birth year are invited to participate for an additional registration fee of $350. Additional ice times will typically be the 30-60 minutes immediately preceding or after a regularly scheduled 8U practice and running from January to March and will include participation in at least 3 local tournaments.

These 8U skaters will also begin to learn the rules and positioning applicable to the full-ice hockey game and applying them in scrimmages.  Contact the Director of Developmental Programs if your skater is interested in this program.

2024-2025 8U Tourney Team Fees will be $350 in addition to the standard 8U registration fee.

10U Tier 4

Birth years 2014 & 2015

At 10U, players begin a regular schedule with outside organizations as part of MEAHA, the Maine Amateur Hockey Association (our state association of USA Hockey). As part of a more advanced schedule, players participate in weeknight practices and off-ice conditioning (dryland training) as well as gain access to practices featuring coaches and players from local high schools, Bowdoin College, and the Maine Mariners!

In addition to our standard schedule, our 10U team gains an automatic entry into the Midcoast Showdown tournament toward the end of the season.

2024-2025 10U Tier 4 Fees will be $900.00

10U Select

As our program has grown, families have expressed an interest in additional skills development and opportunities for competition. In response to these requests, the 10U Select team is born.

Players are offered the opportunity to participate in the 10U Select team based on coaches evaluation. The program is designed for players who are seeking elevated competition comparable to a travel option. To that end, added fees for ice time and tournaments are required.

2024-2025 10U Select Fees are TBD and in addition to the standard 10U Tier 4 registration fee.

10U Growth & Development Team

As our program has grown we have seen players discovering hockey at all ages. To accommodate players who may have joined at age 8-9 and are seeking to continue to grow their skills, we have established our 10U Growth & Development program.

This level of 10U enables players who are new to hockey and/or are working on building their skills to do so in a safe environment and without the pressure of the jump to the 10U level to begin the season. As players are ready, they are offered opportunities to jump in with our MEAHA-rostered 10U teams.

2024-2025 10U Growth & Development Fees will be $800.00.

12U Tier 4

Birth years 2012 & 2013

At 12U, players compete in a regular schedule with outside organizations as part of MEAHA, the Maine Amateur Hockey Association (our state association of USA Hockey). Players continue to build their skills as the level of competition advances.

As they begin to prepare for middle school-level play in the years ahead, players participate in weeknight practices and off-ice conditioning (dryland training) as well as gain access to practices featuring coaches and players from local high schools, Bowdoin College, and the Maine Mariners!

While the opportunities to compete become more frequent, our focus remains on building character and love for the game. In addition to our standard schedule, our 12U team has an automatic entry into the annual Midcoast Showdown tournament.

2024-2025 12U Tier 4 Fees will be $900.00
