Your child's introduction to hockey!  Skaters must be 4 years old or older by December 31st, 2024 (birth year: 2021 and older).

Each session includes one on-ice practice/games per week (45-60 minutes on average).  Practices will be held on weekends at Watson Arena at Bowdoin College.

Each session will run for 8 weeks beginning in early October.  We intend to offer 3 sessions this season.

Full protective hockey equipment is required as sticks and pucks will be introduced towards the middle of the session.  Jerseys issued to players will need to be returned to the club at the conclusion of the season.

2025-2026 LTPH Fees will be $80.00 per 8-week session. Families may sign up for each session at a time or choose to sign up for all three sessions in advance at a discounted rate of $225 + USA Hockey and SportsEngine Fees..

6U

Our 6U program is for players ages 5 & 6 (birth years: 2019 & 2020) who have completed at 2 sessions of a LTPH program or with VP of Player Development Approval.

Practices consist of fun, skills-oriented drills based on USA Hockey’s American Development Model and will be held typically twice a week at various local rinks in the area, including Watson Arena (Brunswick), Troubh Arena (Portland), The Colisée (Lewiston), and more.

After initial practices, 6U will play half-ice and cross-ice games and will be assigned to permanent mixed ability teams for the season.  Many practices will be on shared ice with another group. Jerseys issued to players will be personalized to them and are theirs to keep as a commemorative keepsake.

2025-2026 6U Fees will be $420.00 + USA Hockey and SportsEngine Fees.

8U

Our 8U program is for players ages 6, 7 and 8 (birth years: 2017, 2018 & 2019) who have completed at least a year of the LTPH or 6U program or with VP of Player Development Appoval.

It is recommended that if your skater was a 6U last season and meets the age requirement that they should be registered as an 8U this season.

For questions, contact the VP of Player Development.  Practices consist of fun, skills-oriented drills based on USA Hockey’s American Development Model and will be held at various local rinks in the area, including Watson Arena (Brunswick), Troubh Arena (Portland), The Colisée (Lewiston), and more.

Due to the size of our 8U division, after initial practices our 8Us will be divided into two similar-sized groups to allow for more space on the ice, individualized coaching, and to ensure they are playing with other players of similar skill level.

Players will have 2-3 hours of on-ice instruction each week between October-March.  These will include in-house games, against other Midcoast 8U teams, as well as the opportunity to compete against similar teams from nearby hockey organizations when scheduling allows.

8U will play a combination of half-ice and cross-ice games to maximize player development. Participation in 8U includes participation in at least two local tournaments.  Jerseys issued to players will be personalized to them and are theirs to keep as a commemorative keepsake.

2025-2026 8U Fees will be $605.00 + USA Hockey and SportsEngine Fees.

8U Select

Players who demonstrate exceptional skill will be invited to represent Midcoast in at least 3 additional local tournaments during the season. The 8U Select Team is optional, is based on coaches evaluation, and offers additional ice time commitment beyond the traditional 8U schedule.  Due to the added tournament and ice time fees, participation in 8U Select requires an supplemental registration fee by those who are invited to and choose to participate.

2025-2026 8U Tourney Team Fees will be $375 in addition to the standard 8U registration fee + USA Hockey and SportsEngine Fees.. Payment will be due at the time of accepting an invitation.

8U Extended Play (EP)

In an effort to prepare all players who are rising to 10U next season, 8U EP offers all players with a 2017 birth year the opportunity to participate in supplemental practices and scrimmages with an emphasis on learning full-ice rules. Additionally, 8U EP will have at least one supplemental tournament opportunity for players who participate.

Participation in 8U EP is optional but highly recommended for all players who have 2017 birth years and are planning to compete on our MEAHA Tier 4 or Travel Teams next season.

Thanks to sponsorship support, 8U EP is offered at no added cost for qualified players.

10U Tier 4

Birth years 2015 & 2016

At 10U, players begin a regular schedule with outside organizations as part of MEAHA, the Maine Amateur Hockey Association (our state association of USA Hockey). As part of a more advanced schedule, players participate in multiple weeknight practices and off-ice conditioning (dryland training) as well as gain access to practices featuring coaches and players from local high schools, Bowdoin College, and the Maine Mariners (schedule permitting)!

In addition to our standard schedule, our 10U team gains an automatic entry into the Midcoast Showdown tournament toward the end of the season and should expect at least two additional tournaments on their schedule.

New players who are interested in participating in 10U Tier 4 must have completed at least 1 year of 8U OR participated in our Growth & Development Team (details below) and have VP of Player Development approval.

*Note: Players who are age and experience eligible for Tier 4 but, based on evaluations during preseason, do not demonstrate core skills such as skating backward, the ability to stop, crossing over their skates, or the ability to get up quickly after a fall may be encouraged to start the season with the Growth & Development Team for their safety and continued development.

2024-2025 10U Tier 4 Fees will be $990.00 + USA Hockey and SportsEngine Fees.

10U Select

As our program has grown, families have expressed an interest in additional skills development and opportunities for competition. In response to these requests, the 10U Select team was born.

Players are offered the opportunity to participate in 10U Select  based on coaches evaluations beginning during pre-season in August through October. The program is designed for players who are seeking elevated competition comparable to a travel option and/or are on the path to participate in Travel next season. To that end, added fees for ice time and tournaments are required.

2025-2026 10U Select Team Fees are $300 and in addition to the standard 10U Tier 4 registration fee + USA Hockey and SportsEngine Fees. Payment is due upon acceptance of invitation to participate.

10U/12U Growth & Development Team

As our program has grown we have seen players discovering hockey at all ages. To accommodate players who may have joined at age 8+ and are seeking to continue to grow their skills, we have established our 10U/12U Growth & Development program.

This level of 10U & 12U enables players who are new to hockey and/or are working on building their skills to do so in a safe environment and without the pressure of the jump to the 10U and up level to begin the season. As players are ready, they are offered opportunities to jump in with our MEAHA-rostered 10U teams (space permitting).

2025-2026 10U/12U Growth & Development Fees will be $800.00 + USA Hockey and SportsEngine Fees.

10U/12U Tier 4 Girls

As part of a more advanced schedule, players participate in multiple weeknight practices and off-ice conditioning (dryland training) as well as gain access to practices featuring coaches and players from local high schools, Bowdoin College, and the Maine Mariners (schedule permitting)!

In addition to our standard schedule, our girls team gains an automatic entry into the Midcoast Showdown tournament toward the end of the season and should expect at least two additional tournaments on their schedule.

While the opportunities to compete become more frequent, our focus remains on building character and love for the game.
