Midcoast Youth Hockey’s 16U Tier 3 squad is championship-bound! This group has been building toward this moment all fall—powered by a core of returners from last year’s 14U team and strengthened by many players who chose to come back to or join Midcoast when we launched the 16U offering. The result: a tight, disciplined team that forechecks hard, defends in layers, and gets timely scoring up and down the lineup.
Why this team matters
- Continuity & growth: Many of these players have grown up in our program. Their shared chemistry shows in clean breakouts, smart puck support, and a team-first mindset.
- Program momentum: The 16U option brought back athletes who had left for other opportunities—evidence that Midcoast is a destination for player development and a strong locker-room culture.
- Role models: Younger Junior Polar Bears will see what hard work and consistency can become on a championship stage.
Be there. Be loud. Be Midcoast.
We’re asking the entire Midcoast family to show up in full force:
- Wear your Junior Polar Bears gear and team sweaters
- Bring signs and your best voices—create a home-ice feel in Lewiston
- Arrive early to grab seats together and cheer the team onto the ice
Your energy matters. A loud arena can lift legs in the third period, settle nerves on penalty kills, and turn momentum our way.
What is 16U Split Season—and why it’s important
16U Split Season is designed to give high-school-eligible players a high pace, high-purpose fall schedule that leads directly into the winter high school season.
How it fits:
- Timing: Runs in the fall with focused practices and weekend games, then pauses as high school tryouts and seasons begin
- Development: Keeps players sharp with game-speed reps, special teams work, and situational play (o-zone entries, defensive zone structure, late-game management).
- Transition: Prepares athletes to hit high-school tryouts in midseason form—better conditioning, cleaner habits, and stronger decision-making.
- Culture: Builds leadership and accountability that carry into their school teams.
