Small off-ice jobs that make a huge on-ice difference
Becoming a Team Parent (or joining the Team Parent crew) is the easiest way to plug into Midcoast Youth Hockey, meet other families, and lighten the load for our coaches. Most tasks take minutes—not hours—and every assist keeps practices humming and game days stress-free.
| Volunteer Job | Quick Description | Time Commitment |
|---|---|---|
| Team Communicator | Build & maintain email/text list; send weekly practice/game reminders | ~15 min/week |
| Gear Helper | Tie skates, snap chinstraps, ferry bumpers & cones on/off ice | Arrive 10 min early |
| Time/Score Keeper | Run clock or fill scoresheet at home games | Rotating—1 game shift |
| Snack Shack Crew | Serve snacks and drinks during prime hours | 1–2 shifts/season |
| Fundraising Helper | Sell raffle tickets, distribute MCYH gear orders | Event-based |
| Party Planner | Organize end-of-season celebration & coach gifts | 2–3 hours total |
Tip: Jobs can (and should) be shared—two co-parents make light work.
Note: Bench or locker-room helpers must complete USA Hockey SafeSport & background-check requirements (simple, online, no cost to you).
Thank you for helping every Junior Polar Bear have the best season possible!
